You can use earbuds easily also headphones if the the ear cushion is not to big.I use both no problem!

Ear buds such as AirPods work best for me. Haven’t tried regular Headset.

Yes the 3.5mm input is below the strap and unobstructed by it ... note though that with this strap , it will not fit in the gray/white pill shaped Oculus Carry Case and you will have to order a 3rd party one with a different shape unless you remove the strap after every use
