Pretty sturdy. I put 3 bikes on it. It is primitive but serve the purpose.

Key is the rack needs 2 inch receiver as you will need to insert to the hitch on your car.
The bike rack is relatively primitive compare to more expensive ones. However it was solidly built and fulfilled my requirements.

Yes, I used on the VAN. You have to lower down the vertical arm. No need to remove it from hitch.
