Mines on a 2006 liberty and it fits perfect. Just have to make sure it’s level on the top of the tire or it can get skimmed by the glass door when you open/close it.
Yes. I used it happily on a 2001 RAV4, which is the same body style as the 2004. I got the rack in 2020 and used it through summer into fall, after which I traded in my old RAV4. Yes. I used it happily on a 2001 RAV4, which is the same body style as the 2004. I got the rack in 2020 and used it through summer into fall, after which I traded in my old RAV4. I thought the rack was both sturdy and easy to setup and remove as needed. Full disclosure: I only ever used it with one bike. One thing to consider: The space between the top back of the tire and the front face of the tail gate is narrow. The angled parts of the rack's top brackets that hook around the top back of the tire are very strong round metal tubes and it's a very tight squeeze to fit them behind the tire. Ultimately as the rack settled in on the tire under the weight of my bike as I drove around, the bars dented and scratched the tailgate behind the tire. I decided that was OK because it's completely hidden from view behind the tire and my 2001 already had its fair share of dents and scratches. Note that this cannot be used over the fancy hard tire cover that comes with your 2004 RAV4. You need to remove both that cover and the mounting piece that normally sits behind the spare tire.
