I got the FireTV stick because I don't have cable, and wanted to watch Netflix, Crave, Amazon video and Bell Fibe all from one source. (I had the Roku stick, which I connected to a TV in another room.) Because I don't have a provider myself, I can't connect Bell Fibe. One thing that really bothers me also is Crave on FireTv ... it cuts out to the next episode and I miss the final crucial moments of every episode, you know, when something shocking is discovered. I connected mine to a 15 year old TV and it works perfectly. As long as your TV has an HDMI port you’re good to go

Yes you can. You just need to synchronize Alexa to the fire tv. After you’ve set up the fire tv and connected it to you WiFi it should auromatically connect to your Alexa. Now go to you Alexa app on your phone, go to settings, video and default your fire tv to your echo.

If you have an app open and literally playing and then hit the home button, it will always pick up from you left off when you relaunch the app. Crave, Netflix etc behave that way. Always back out of the event your doing by using the back button. Amazon recommends at least 15 megabits per second, while Netflix advises 25 Mbps. But if other devices at home will be occupying your bandwidth, 15 or 25 Mbps alone won't suffice
