This is not a bad device if you want to read a book.
No its not water proof if you dump it in a bathtub or lake. But if you spill your coffee or water bottle it will hold up. The plug in is waterproof but not to the extent that it can be submerged.

I am a PC person and had a hard time with the interface to get my old books onto the kindle. I found the kindle two versions back to be more user friendly.
But don't buy it from amazon. It comes connected to all of amazon's sights, and you can't remove them.
Depending where the kindle comes from it will or will not support Bluetooth. The audible is like a new apple phone you need to use Bluetooth so if you can't find it then it's not audio compatible.
I got mine in Vancouver, BC and I sent it back. No Bluetooth.
I went with a Kobo. More money but much better device.
Just a little advice. Look for a program call "Calibre" on the web not the app store and download it (its free). It is a great program that helps you
1. Organize you books
2. Put them into collections
3. Change the metadata on the books so you see on the e reader the proper name of the book
4. Interfaces with the Old sony, all Kobo and kindle. (found out after I sent it back)
Personally I'm not impressed with this device at all, and as much as I love amazon I don't like how it is over connected to everything.
I hope this helps.
