It does not seem likely. Mine was hooked up to 16 inches stud spacing and I do not think there was that much leeway to accomodate 24 inch spacing. I could be wrong.
Yes there are 2 long screws on the brackets that go on the tv that tighten down on the cross bar of the mount. But make sure they are back out all the way before you try and hook the tv over the bar.....otherwise both hooks wont engage!
