It can be set to one of two pickup patterns – cardioid (which will hear the sound in front of it and be deaf to the sound behind it) or omnidirectional, (which will pick up sound from front and back – although in practice, a bit more from the front than the back). Both work well. The mic can be instantly switched between those two modes with the button and light on top. Not that I am aware of I have 2 computer's and could only get it to work on a laptop it needs to be plugged in via USB then connected to a headset so most likely will not hook up to tablet or android
