Sorry... I meant to suggest ‘LITHIUM’ batteries for -long, cold Northern winters! (Not Alkaline.)

It does take 4 D batteries. A cheap set lasted 3 months in a harsh Canadian winter. I will get rechargeable batteries for them soon. They will likely last longer in the spring, summer and fall.

You have to purchase your own batteries. They last a while mine have been good for a year.
