This book tells about the time Arthur's parents decided to send him off to camp. Arthur isn't sure he wants to go, and is a bit homesick. The children at camp play pranks like setting off smoke bombs, putting frogs in people's beds, and hiding their clothes. Arthur writes home postcards about how lonely he is. He still manages to enjoy himself somewhat, however, when he helps his team win the intercamp scavenger hunt. Arthur fans may get a kick out of this book, as well as kids who dream of going to summer camp. The book about 700 words.

This book gets three stars primarily because we love Arthur. This story, however, seems a little short changed. It appears that the text version cannot due justice to the idea of Arthur finally feeling comfortable at camp. Arthurs change of heart at the end is a little to quick for the kids to process comfortably. The illistrations are wonderful as always.

I have a 3.5 year old. I generally don't like the Arthur books and didn't like this one. Mostly because I thought the part where they called some kids fat and said they had to shape up was terrible. That's really not the kind of positive body message I want my kids to receive.

ORIGINALITY OF THIS BOOK IS AUTHENTIC-INTERESTING

Pleasant transaction, item as described, received in good condition; no mark ups, no markers, the book is clean. Opening the plastic envelope, this book was once a library book with library sticky recording label on front of hard cover book. At first, I find it interesting. After browsing through the pages, it strike me immediately that this book is authentic, the real McCoy of when Marc Brown, author, first written and published some of first few "Arthur" books because the drawings appeared to be when Brown started writing books, whereas, later in the years, the drawing of the characters in the book are still fun-cool-neat, but I can tell this book "Arthur Goes to Camp" is one of the original publishing from the beginning of time; I was on course, this was originally published in 1982, awesome!!! The drawings is a masterpiece and golden to collect. Very very happy I purchased this book. Highly recommended.

I give every Arthur book 5 stars. These are the first books my daughter really started showing interest in a reading by herself. (just over a year old) She loves reading, but now she's almost 2 and still loves them. She knows them by title and sits through the entire book, sometimes several of them at once. She knows all the characters. They aren't exactly learning books, but they are still really good for kids, in my opinion! Teaches them good life lessons. =)

My kids are all grown up now, but Marc Brown and the Arthur series were some of our favorites! They were always requested by my kids and later I kept them on hand for when Grandchildren visited. I love them too!
