At 12cm x 7cm (2 3/4" x 4 3/4") these cards are taller and stiffer than my fairly-large woman's hands can handle for a regular type of shuffle (the card stock is very stiff and sturdy). So I have spent my first morning with them getting the feel of them, loosening them up by riffling the corners, and curving the cards in different ways. You know how a new dollar bill feels all stiff and unnatural and how you just want to break it in a bit? It was like that. A shuffle from one hand into the palm of the other will be necessary for this girl but that's okay with me.
The book that came with them is beautifully made and well organized. On my first day and into the near future I plan to mostly use the "General Reading" and "Reversed" paragraphs for each card to help me get used to the meanings of cards that pop up for me. I am in no hurry and I am sure I will learn more as I go. I skipped over the parts detailing all the magick-ee aspects of card reading. The grounding, the cleansing of the deck, the right ways to do everything. Maybe later on. And if that's important to someone else go for it. I am of a practical bent and don't want to get awestruck by all that stuff. I feel it's not important--at least at this time.
Enjoy your new tool!
