First one arrived quickly, but damaged upon arrival. Amazon quickly sent me another one, and I received it on the 3rd day. Very satisfied with Amazon service.
The product is a great design. It is expensive, but I chose it because I have a right arm problem and I cannot lift a bike high enough to load in the regular bike carrier. With the platform type, it is way easier to load the bike.
I tried installation without going through the manual (I only checked the dial setting for my car), and it took half an hour. If I read the manual first, it should be less than 15 minutes. Installing again, with the help of another person, took only 5 minutes. Tightening the wires with the knobs is easy and secure.
The platform uses retractable rails to suit different bike sizes. The rails flex quite a bit on full load (35 lbs) but I believe the V-shape rail can support the weight without failing. In case it fails, Thule provides limited life time warranty.
Loading 2 adult bikes is tricky, because there is not much room between the two bikes. Finally, I succeeded by putting the bikes in opposite direction.
Really like this bike carrier. The bikes won't "swing" while the car is moving, thus avoiding scratching each other, or my car. However, the limit of 35 lb per bike will keep a lot of buyer back, because a lot of adult bikes, especially full-suspension mountain bikes, are over 35 lbs. My mountain bike is over 35lb. I removed the seat and post , and all removable accessories, to keep it within limit.
Before you plan to buy this, make sure that you have the space to store it. It is big and heavy, not easy to be stored inside a cabinet.
