I couldn’t put this book down. I loved the interweaving of storylines over the period covering both WW1 and WW2 and the intervening years. Jacqueline Winspear is a mistress of suspense keeping the reader on tenter hooks right to the end. Will there be a sequel? I hope so.

Firstly , let me say that I have read and thoroughly enjoyed the entire Maisie Dobbs series and was happy to see this new book by Jacqueline Winspear.
Although The White Lady was an interesting story based on the SOE, a volunteer and secret subversive force during WW1 and WW11, I found the book to be repetitive and predictable. The ending was abrupt and unsatisfying. Never before while reading a JW book have I found myself flipping through pages to get to the next part.

I will admit that the beginning intrigued me and the first one third of the book was good, but it soon digressed and I found myself bored with the rest of it.
