Nov 2020: I was really excited to get this alarm set (8 piece). It has only 1 motion sensor and I was hoping that I could buy more motion sensors after installing and then evaluating where I could use the sensors better. The door sensors are great. However, the motion sensor I received connected but did not sense motion. I had to call into ring support 2 times. They told me they would call back the first time and forgot! The 2nd support crew seemed responsive...Ring could see that it connected but there was no motion detected. After multiple attempts to reset and reinstall, they finally suggested that they replace the unit --- This after spending several hours on-hold or testing with support. I feel that they should have just replaced the unit quickly but instead I felt like I was testing the product...this should have been better quality tested. They are sending out a replacement motion sensor but they told me it will take 7 business days. Not a great first experience with Ring and that is why I have given it 2star for now. I will upgrade if the experience improves.
UPDATE Dec 15. Still no motion sensor. I called Ring and waited 1/2 hour to get support. They said that the tech support had the replacement readied but forgot to send it! REALLY. Now I have to wait another week. Dropping my rating due to tech support issues.
UPDATE Dec 17: Received email that they shipped but without a proper address (city specified only)! I called in and spent 30 mins on hold and they were able to verify that the wrong address was entered! This is gotten to a level of being a joke.
UPDATE Dec 30: Received my motion detector. It worked well out of the box. I test this detector install a little over 7' high in a corner by entryway. The sensor detects reliably nearby but after 8' is hit or miss. I guess this makes sense that there is a range of detection. There is a sensitivity setting but I don't really understand or know if this works. Overall, if I got another one to cover my entry hallway, it is acceptable as a solution. I have a pet so this will likely not make a good solution for me in the long run. I wish ring has a better solution similar to their ring doorbell which has an AI type feature to detect people motion only. This feature seems to work ok. I wish this were available on an indoor camera detector so that it could rule out pet movement.
