This foot file presents an affordable and efficient way to get rid of calluses.
This foot file is essentially a "grater" on one side, a file on the other. The handle is sturdy and ergonomic, it fits comfortably in my hand.

I use the grater side first, on dry skin. It's perfect for those thick, hard calluses that build up on my heels. I glide the grater over my calluses, lightly, and with each stroke my calluses are shaved off. I keep going until I reach the soft, healthy skin underneath. The "bulk" of the removed calluses stay inside the little holding tank underneath the grater, but the finer bits of dry skin dust fly out with each stroke so I usually put a towel down to catch this. The grater is very sharp, so I use short, light strokes so I don't take too much skin off and hurt myself. Once I get down to the soft, healthy skin that was hiding under the calluses, I then turn the device over and finish up with the finer file side. The file smooths the skin, removing any unwanted remnants left behind from the coarser grater. The result is soft, callus free feet.

The first time I used this file, I used too much pressure. This meant that I ended up filing my calluses too much and taking off some of the good skin underneath with them, leaving me sore and bleeding. This grater is SHARP so be sure to start with short, light strokes until you get a feel for it, so you don't hurt yourself.
Now that I've developed a feel for this tool, I can exfoliate both feet very effectively in under 10 minutes. It's much quicker to use than my electric foot file, which takes 2-3x longer. Unlike a pumice stone, it requires almost no "elbow grease". The file is easy to clean - pop the grater part off and rinse out the dead skin compartment, wipe down the grater blade, and let dry before reassembling. No muss, no fuss.
This callus removal tool is best suited to thick, hard calluses. If your feet don't have this type of callus, the grating side will almost certainly be too aggressive for you - you're better off with just a straightforward file or a pumice stone. If you've got thick calluses that you'd like to get rid of completely and QUICKLY, though, this foot file/foot grater is a great option. Makes quick work of removing thick calluses and leaves feet soft and smooth.
