1) The package used was clearly inadequate for a hard drive: the drive was simply put in an envelope lined with a bit of bubble padding. If a consumer had shipped their drive to the manufacturer like this for RMA, it would most likely be denied service and the warranty voided. 2) The product I received had both a bent SATA connector and a bent power connector. The bending was severe enough to prevent it from being physically plugged into a backplane at all. 3) The brand name here says "Monoprice" instead of WD.
