One of the reasons I chose this was because of the lack of competition for video capturing. All I could really find were the Elgato series or Pirect internal cards. And the reviews for Pirect gave off a "it works, but takes work to get working" vibe. So to save the hassle, I went Elgato. All I needed it for was to create a live feed from a camcorder, but in the end it worked, and VERY smoothly and painlessly along with having the upside of using it to record gaming footage from my PC or Console later on.
It's hassle-free, high quality, easy to use, easy to install, very multipurpose. The only negative for me is the price tag of $230, which obviously is a good thing overall. I'd rather pay a high price for quality, than a low price with an impending hassle. It does come with a nice software kit downloaded from the main site for free (or included into the main price depending how you think about it).
