I've purchased a Kindle Paperwhite for my wife. Wanting to make sure it was configured and ready to go, I used the supplied cable to charge the device. However, it would not insert into socket. Not wanting to break the cable plug or the Kindle I tried my own USB cable. Inserted easily and charged Kindle without issue.

Started a 'chat' with Amazon customer service, being passed from the initial rep to a 'Kindle expert'. It took forever to get responses after I replied to each of her questions. All I was asking for was a replacement USB cable. No big deal ... you'd think. Eventually, I couldn't spare any more time and accepted the USB charging cable at 'promo' price.

Bear in mind, I'd already paid for this AND it wasn't functional. Amazon - extremely poor service. In fact, worse, no 'service' at all. Just gouging. The Kindle better work!
