Beautifully styled and designed device. So far the only issue is the smell. That may seem like an odd thing to say, but the large 'rubber' piece on the bottom of the unit has a very strong, and unpleasant, 'toxic'-cheap-rubber type smell. I don't know how to describe the smell, but I have come across similar with very cheap products made in China (this is also made in China, but not a cheap or poorly made product). It seems to be the type of material they use to make rubber, or maybe they don't cure it fully/properly. The 'rubber' on the other echo devices also has this same strong/'toxic' type of smell. I've found that if I put it in the window with the 'rubber' exposed to the sun for a few weeks, 90%+ of the smell goes away.

If you get one, check yours before putting it down on your night stand or table (as that stops the smell by covering the rubber against your table, but also leaves your table contaminated with the smell long after once you move the device), it's not something I want to smell/breath. Why do these Amazon products use this kind of 'rubber' when other similar products (that also use rubber) don't have any smell at all? If you find the rubber smells after you take it out of the box, might be worth leaving a review for Amazon, so they can take note and fix this for the future.

My personal experiences of Echo Show 5 compared to other models:

Please remember that these are my own subjective observations/experiences, not based on any measurements. I currently have 10 Echo devices and use them all constantly (in a relatively quiet house). My reference is a very high-end audio system, calibrated for flat (i.e. no boosted frequencies) output (and my hearing is excellent), though a 5 star music quality rating doesn’t mean the echo device is as good as that audio system.

My attempt at several charts will not display properly here, so please see the attached image of the chart ;)

I will add more explanations, and device specific notes (experience, bugs, recommendations) in the near future, if people find this helpful.
