I had high hopes for The Walk, and I'm pleased to say it was even better than I imagined. I originally wanted to see this in the theatre, but unfortunately I missed it by a week. Luckily, I happened to pick up a 3D projector on sale this Christmas, so I got a second opportunity to see The Walk on the "big screen" (at approximately 8'x5'). At that size, and in 3D, this movie really comes alive!
Robert Zemeckis tells the story of how Philippe Petit got started with his high wire act, right up to, and ending with, the famous walk between the World Trade Towers. The 3D effects throughout the film are stunning, so I highly recommend watching the 3D version on the largest screen possible. (The 3D release also include a 2D disc for those who don't have a 3D player.)
As for image quality, it's razor sharp. I've been very impressed with the image quality of recently blu ray movies, like The Walk and The Martian. The line between 1080p and 4k is very much blurred, in that I can't imagine these films looking much better!
One final thought: It was great seeing the twin towers again. This movie presents them in all their glory. In fact it's hard to watch this and not get a little emotional seeing them.
Just and amazing film that is really inspiring. A solid 5/5!
