In his story you experience the absurdity of apartheid. He never feels sorry for himself but gives factual details of daily life and events that made me wonder how he survived. Just what is it like to grow up in a wacky, topsy turvy world where there is no reason or justice applied to governing every aspect of living. His navigation through the labyrinth of churches, schools, and neighbourhoods is downright breathtaking AND funny. The title of his book says a lot but his story is an education.
