If you follow the instructions you'll be fine getting this set up. Only advice is to be mindful of how you tighten the straps. Make sure you tighten them and tie them in a knot or something so they don't slowly slip through the buckle as you're driving, and use a couple bungee cords for some extra security. My husband knows some special type of slip knot that movers use when they strap down loads, so we didn't have any issues. We took our bikes camping (2 hour drive) and had no issues. We left it on the trunk the whole time and had no issues getting things in and out.
