UPDATED - upgraded to 3 stars - OK so my review below stands BUT ... some of the other reviews mentioned turning down the backlight to below 80%. Set it on my mom's TV to 75%. Picture looks great and it works. 2 Days and counting - so far so good. She is going to keep the TV.
Bought this for my elderly mother before Christmas. Delivery was fine - it arrived in 3 days. I was there when it was unloaded - no issues. Took to my mother's place to set up. Setup was easy. I have an earlier "Insignia" model of this television - no issues. Set up for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Crave, etc. All seemed to go fine. While I was visiting with my mother the TV was on. Picture stopped working about 20 minutes (but sound worked) after it was set up. Turned the set off and on, picture was back. Worked great for about 20 minutes then the screen went dark - sound was still working. This happened off and on over the next hour as I played with it and watched. I ended up making arrangements to return this as it's not watchable like this. My mother understood but was not happy. SO I bought another television - same as this - this time from Best Buy as I was able to get a better price. Exact same model. 20 minutes after it was set up exact same problem. Screen goes dark. There are other reviews out there on the Best Buy site describing this. Apparently the screen backlight has a tendancy to overheat and trip a failsafe after ~15 - 20 minutes if the backlight is on 100%. Fix for this is apparently to turn the backlight down below 80%. Going over tonight to try it on her "new" TV to see if it worked. NOT impressed - which is too bad because otherwise this seems to be a great TV. Great picture, sound is good as well and the FireTV features - those were why I bought this for her in the first place. We'll see what happens - if she keeps it.
