What I do like about having an Asurion protection plan, is having the peace of mind that comes with it. Often their warranty goes over and beyond what the manufacturer one covers. What I don't like about it is it starts the moment you receive the item. If the warranty is covered by the manufacturer for the first 1-3 years, then anything the manufacturer won't do, Asurion will.
After the manufacturer warranty runs out, whatever is remaining on the Asurion plan is all you get. So when purchasing an Asurion plan make sure it exceeds the manufacture one. ie: If the manufacturer warranty is 1 year, then make sure the Asurion one is at least 2 or more years. I bought it to cover a new Logitech mouse (G502) which I know can be a hit or fail right out of the box.
Logitech's solution would be to send us a refurbished one. Whereas Asurion would send us a new one. The G502 has a 2-yr replacement warranty for US customers only, or just a standard 2-yr warranty for us Canadians. Having an Asurion warranty is like having a 4-year replacement warranty.
