I was ready to say some pretty harsh things about this book until I read the author's note at the end. I guess I am uncomfortable being nasty and commenting on someone's experience with abuse. As the author says over and over and over again, you can't judge from the outside looking in. I just didn't believe in the characters, the story - nothing. When the main character, Lily, wrote in her journal, I found her voice to be very inauthentic. It would take more time to analyze my feelings as to why I really didn't like this book, but I really care to spend more time thinking about it. It has something to do with it sounding too preachy and the author's agenda overrode the story. It was a quick read and light (considering the heavy subject). Not for me.
