Customer Review

I tested this SSD through several different tests. The only advertised statistic that didn't disappoint was the drives read speed. That holds solid at 500+ MB/s. The write speeds however, are incredibly disappointing. I bought this drive as a storage drive as I already have an M.2 drive as my OS drive. Writing from a Sandisk Extreme USB drive to my M.2 yielded 350 MB/s. Writing from my Sandisk Extreme to this A58 started at 350 MB/s for about 5 seconds but then drops to 50 MB/s and stays there throughout the rest of the file transfer. I was transferring a single 16 GB .mkv movie file. Every time I transferred this same file to this A58 it started fast and quickly dropped and held at 50 MB/s. Even my M.2 drive that has a 2200 MB/s read speed would drop to 50 MB/s while transferring this file to the Silicon Power A58. The "SLC cache" on this A58 is the only fast memory on this drive. Once it fills up, it's ridiculously slow.
If you CrystalDiskMark this drive with the default 1GB test, this drive scores as advertised. If you change it to a larger test, it falls on its face.
