A retelling of the Trojan War myth from the point of view of Achilles' lover Patroclus, gods and supernatural elements included. Beautiful and simple writing make this a book that might be a nice gift for a gay teenager who is just coming out. I would have liked to have seen more original material added from outside of the Homeric and post-Homeric sources as well as a little better explanation of what Achilles saw in Patroclus, which doesn't seem very clear. The battle scenes are quite graphic but the love scenes between the two seem almost chaste. Also, I think a modern retelling would have worked better had much of the supernatural either been omitted or changed to be plausible.
