Much like The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement Paperback did with Operations, Turquoise Eyes achieves the same impact but in teaching the reader about critical thinking, problem solving, and ethics over the course of a fictional novel. Set in the context of an emerging market, the book takes the reader on a consulting project in the financial services sector where the outcome of the work has great implications for the client and society at large. A pleasant and riveting read for those curious about the business world, consulting, or are seasoned business professionals. This book excels in being able to eloquently communicate and teach the core principles of economics and business (e.g. implications of a high fixed cost business model). As well, teaches a number of core consulting skills most important of which is being able to effectively define a problem and break the problem into its key drivers. A recommended read particularly for those not yet sure if about a career in business.
