The deluxe slipcase edition is beautiful! It was packaged perfectly, with a cardboard box that had the same snitch design as shown on the purple case, and the title written on the spine. Inside that, the book was wrapped in plastic. The book itself is extremely high quality - as in, the pages are so thick at first I thought they were stuck together, but soon got used to the fact that the paper itself was just very solid. The edges of the pages are coated in a very shiny gold (which does make the pages stick together a bit when new, just because the pages haven't been moved since they were coated). The book cover is covered in a nice material with a design of Diagon Alley - the same design which you receive in a long poster inside the book, which was a nice surprise.
The illustrations are amazing and this edition is a must-have for any loving fan - or even as a great introduction to a younger person, though this book is very heavy. The darker parts of the story are not illustrated, which as an adult I am a bit sad about, as multiple pages in the later chapters have no pictures, but I understand it was done for children. I'm just an adult who bought this for herself on a whim, and I am so glad I did.
