Rachel Simmons is the author of Enough As She Is: How to Help Girls Move Beyond Impossible Standards of Success to Live Healthy, Happy and Fulfilling Lives, and the New York Times bestsellers Odd Girl Out and The Curse of the Good Girl. As an educator, Rachel teaches girls and women skills to build their resilience, amplify their voices, and own their courage so that they—and their relationships—live with integrity and health.

The cofounder of national nonprofit Girls Leadership, she is an experienced curriculum writer and educator. She is currently the leadership development specialist at the Wurtele Center for Leadership at Smith College, and is Girls Research Scholar in Residence at The Hewitt School in New York. Rachel has served as a national spokesperson for the Always #LikeAGirl and Keds Brave Life Project campaigns, and consults nationally on women’s professional development.

Rachel was the host of the PBS television special, “A Girl’s Life,” and her writing has appeared in the Washington Post, Atlantic, Slate, and The New York Times. Rachel is a regular contributor to Good Morning America and appears often in the national media. Odd Girl Out was adapted into a highly acclaimed Lifetime television movie. Rachel lives in Western Massachusetts with her daughter.

This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. I bought it thinking that it would be useful to me in the way I serve as a role model to the girls in my life, but actually, it’s becoming incredibly eye opening about my own behaviors and what I notice in the women around me. This book is written and marketed towards girls, but I think it is invaluable to women as well. I’ve learned so much and I can assure you that this beautiful ok will change the way you think about yourself and the way you can support the girls in your life. Enjoy it! It’s a gem. In addition to reading the book I listened to the audiobook and it was great.

EASI provides reinforcement to listen to your gut and let your child follow her (his) heart. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I'm the mom of bright kids, and I want the opportunities of the world for them. At the same time, I am appalled by the resume-building expected of *children* and by the pressure to market our kids so that they can succeed. EASI is reassurance that being genuine and true still leads to meaningful success.

Every parent caught up in getting their daughter into a "good" school should read this book. It's not for folks who are willing to pay anything to achieve that end but for those who channel their high-achieving daughters into a perpetual cycle of academics, sports, arts and good works in order to impress admissions officers. The author resigned from a Rhodes scholarship to lead a more authentic life, so that tells you something about her point of view. I recommend it to parents all the time.

Some of our girls suffer from anxiety and depression yet they are not superachievers and perfectionists. I wish there was a book about them. We don’t need to tell them that they need to make choices about which high achieving goal they are going for because they don’t go for any.
