"A kick-ass protagonist. Bad-ass zombies. A cool-ass thrill ride. Adrian's Undead Diary is easily one of the best zombie tales out there. Chris Philbrook is on my keeper shelf." Rachel Aukes, best selling author of 100 Days in Deadland.
"A realistic account of the zombie apocalypse that sucks you right in. A great series!" T.W. Piperbrook, author of the Contamination series.
Beheading a zombie isn't easy in a world where you're more afraid of the living than the dead.
Adrian Ring's simple life is thrown into chaos when the world is ripped apart by a plague of undead and scores of desperate survivors. Retreating to Auburn Lake Preparatory Academy, Adrian attempts to rescue friends and family on the way while dancing around his impending insanity over who and what he left behind, and evading maniac survivors.
He saves his cat Otis, but shoots his mom.
Pretty successful, all things considered.
Dark Recollections is the first part of Adrian's own horror story of how he survived after the zombie apocalypse of "That Day." Told through his eyes as he talks to his laptop, affectionately named "Mr. Journal," and through short stories that entwine with his tales that bring forth dark visions of a world being eaten alive by an unimaginable evil. Adrian's Undead Diary is an eight part epic about a solitary, guilt stricken man that didn't think he deserved to live, but realizes very soon that he survived, and suffered for a reason.
It's a great read for anyone. The stories are well written, characters build carefully and every detail is covered. People, this is what a great book looks like! Stop reading this review and start reading the book! -Frank D of zombie-guide.com
I don't even think one needs to be a fan of zombie fiction to end up a fan of AUD; because Chris's talent can't be pigeonholed into one limited, literary genre. His true talent lies in weaving an enduring, sweeping story that does exactly what it's supposed to do... pulls you in, engrosses you, evokes emotion, and leaves you satisfied (if not a little bit sad) when it's over. In the case of AUD, for me, the zombies are just a bonus! -Wendi Haegle

About the author

Chris Philbrook is the creator and author of the urban fantasy series The Reemergence, the dark fantasy series The Kinless Trilogy, sci-fi Colony Lost, the cosmic horror series The Darkness of Diggory Finch, and the post apocalyptic epic Adrian's Undead Diary. He also writes young adult science fiction under the pen name W.J. Orion.
Chris' first book in print was The Wrath of the Orphans, the initial book of The Kinless Trilogy set in his grim, post-apocalyptic fantasy world of Elmoryn.
Adrian's Undead Diary has thirteen titles available in print, eBook and audio, with two or three more planned.
Tesser: A Dragon Among Us is Chris' first foray into the world of urban/contemporary fantasy. There are five books released in the series.
The Darkness of Diggory Finch is a snarky take on Lovecraftian horror set in quaint, corrupted New England. TDoDF is set for five books, and two are out as of this writing.
Colony Lost has a single full-length release as of right now, plus a sequel eBook called Colony of Lies. Three eBook sequels are planned, which will be collated into a full-length print, audio, and eBook release when completed.
Chris is the owner of Tier One Games LLC, his game development company. He and his creative partner Jason DeBit are working on a 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting titled RockJockeys. He also co-owns Latchkey Comics with artist Jason Casey. He prefers to collaborate artistically with people named Jason.
Chris calls the wonderful state of New Hampshire his home. He is an avid reader, writer, role player, miniatures game player, video game player, painter and procrastinator. He and his wife share their home with two perfect daughters.

I enjoyed getting to know the character, hearing about his day, feeling his frustrations. Definitely not your typical zombie book, but it still has the Zombie Apocalypse storyline.
Worth the read in my opinion.

It tells us the frame of mind Adrian is in as he struggles to survive alone in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The book is well written and you can tell the author has put a lot of thought into the character and the story line but also into describing the thoughts and feelings of somebody living through this hell. I enjoyed the book a lot and if you like zombies and end if the world scenarios then this is a book for you

I originally started reading this online, enjoyed it so much that when it became available on kindle I had to purchase it as well, what higher recommendation do you need than wanting to support your favorite author by purchasing something that you already had read?
