Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

Pretty disappointed in all the religious stuff. I'm not against religion, but it's up to my kid to decide when she's old enough to understand and make her own decision. I was not prepared for this and it's never been an issue with berenstain bears before.

The story was good and the god stuff is unecessary.

It was good for a 4 year old.

This one made me tear up. I read some reviews where people did not understand the story.
The message is about patience which it demonstrates by the cubs having to wait for their plants to grow.
Some reviewers didn't understand the point of Honey bear's story. Her faith that God would grow her work was so pure and childlike that she had a marvellous result. Brother and sister worked so hard, they also got results, but their faith wasn't a strong as little honey. This is a message about faith versus works. AS WELL AS PATIENCE as they all have to wait to see their plants grow!

Ordered this without looking into it as I used to love Berenstain Bears as a kid. Once the son took over writing them in the 2000s, they've moved under a religious imprint of the publisher and speak directly about the Bible, God, and religion. Was not expecting this and isn't really our cup of tea. I don't want to give the book a bad rating for this reason, but just a warning to those looking at reviews.

We have bought some of the old original books, so I didn't even think that this would be filled with religious nonsense. I see now from the back of the book that the series has been changed to biblical themes since the original author died. The new one could have chosen to publish in his own name, but guess it's easier to sell under a pretence!
There is NOTHING to teach your child about patience in this book. It's as if they forgot to put in a morale or learning experience, and it got replaced with religious references. Just to top it off, it also ends by daddy bear being romantic towards mummy bear, but it's written in a way to suggest that it's a shameful and embarrassing expression.
This is going straight in the bin!

I bought three of these Christian berenstein books. This was far and away the best of the three. It is about the children growing gardens and needing to work hard and be patient for their plants to grow. Although my kids and I liked this book, I still wish the patience being taught here was about more day to day things kids need to be patient about. I mean, it isn't very relatable for most kids, I guess, to plant a garden. Still, there was enough action and humor to keep my kids interested. And I like the possible seg-way into teaching kids about patience in sharing the gospel.

The story is not about patience. It is about faith and how God might be unfair if you are organized, intelligent and work hard.
