When Lyleia Naiad was head-hunted by Brimstone, Inc., for her job as Executive Assistant to a high-powered billionaire demigod, she was given one directive—do NOT fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. Doesn’t matter if he’s the son of Zeus and can electrify a room with a single glance. As an ex-nymph, she possesses a unique ability—a gift from the goddesses to protect nymphs from the randy gods—to resist her boss's charms.
Or so she thought.
He insists she accompany him to an alpha wolf shifter mating ceremony, an event where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes...and inhibitions.
Goddesses save her, because Castor has stolen into Lyleia’s heart, and she’s not so sure she can hold out much longer…
This novella was previously self published but has undergone a complete re-edit. Scenes were added, things were changed, but the kissing still remains!

About the author

Bestselling and award-winning author, Abigail Owen, writes adult paranormal romance & upper YA fantasy romance. She loves plots that move hot and fast, feisty heroines with sass, heroes with heart, a dash of snark, and oodles of HEAs! Other titles include wife, mother, Star Wars geek, ex-competitive skydiver, spreadsheet lover, eMBA, organizational guru, Texan, Aggie, and chocoholic.
Abigail attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.
Abigail currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own swoon-worthy hero, their angelic teenagers, and two adorable fur babies.

Fun fact: The "writing prompt," if you will, for this story was Abigail randomly selecting two supernatural creatures and writing them falling in love. Awesome, right?!
Though until now I only knew of Abigail by her western/contemporary romances (hadn't read them, though), I was intrigued to see how she paranormaled. And I was not disappointed!
Leia certainly had it rough; the one thing she loved the most in the world was stolen from her, and she was cast out and forced to make it completely alone. But, she had one thing that most other creatures, human and otherwise, didn't possess, and that was immunity to the charms of Castro. Lei also had admirable inner strength, and I enjoyed reading how she overcame her fears and seemingly unbeatable situations as the victor.
And Castor, having been dealt a painful hand himself, was just trying to do his job and didn't want distractions. But I liked that he wasn't afraid of his feelings, and I liked that when he realized what he did about Leia, that he didn't run away from it or just sit back and do nothing. He was an active player in what unfolded because he truly wanted to help Leia.
Oh, and brace yourself for a burst of steam in these here pages! That mating ceremony and what followed was something else! Whoo!
This book seems to be the first of a series, and I could not be happier. I liked learning about these mythical creatures and I'm interested to see where the series goes next. The story here seemed to wrap up with a Happily Ever After, so I wonder where it will go next?

The characters in this were fun. I enjoyed the banter and the sweet moments the couple had. They actually communicated majority of the time! What a relief! Leia was a great heroine. I enjoyed watching her open up and embrace her true nature. Castor was great as well. Although he's an alpha demigod who could easily solve Leia's problems, he lets her fight her own battles (assisting only when needed/asked). Both main characters are fully fleshed out. The side characters should be fun to read about in the next installment.
The length of the story was perfect. I think any longer and the story would be too long. All the plot and character storylines tied up in a pretty bow.
Would recommend if you're looking for a short paranormal love story.

Castor, as the son of Zeus, certainly has the sex appeal oozing from his pores, and the constant line-up of weekly new female interests proves he knows how to use that charm. The love of Castor’s life, his wife, died long ago and he’s never contemplated the possibility of finding love again. Yet, over the past year of working closely with Lyleia, he’s discovering that all of his passion isn’t quite controlled around this former nymph – and he’s doing everything in his power to ignore the attraction and need he feels around her.
Lyleia had the most precious and necessary thing stolen from her by a wolf shifter long ago – her spring, the body of water that she loved, needed, and lost. Now she’s mostly an outcast from her family and tends to not stay in one place very long. She knows it’s time to leave Castor’s life and move on to the next spot yet she’s unexpectedly attracted to this man who only has the heart for one true love, his deceased wife. It’s time to move on, but Castor will insist on one weekend trip to an Alpha werewolf’s mating ceremony for several reasons. Mostly because of the pheromones running out of control at such an event, and he’s determined to not take up with any woman at that ceremony – so Lyleia is for his protection, so to speak, and still, he cannot ignore the attraction between them so perhaps more was on his mind from the issuance of this working weekend deal.
It might have been a sizzling, fun weekend if Lyleia hadn’t run into the wolf shifter who stole her spring – now the situation has changed drastically – for everyone including Castor for this demigod is hooked and no one will harm his woman.
There is a lot packed into this novella, yet it doesn’t feel or read as too short for the story being told, The Demigod Complex is certainly sexy, sizzlingly sexy, but it’s also emotional with a very nasty bad guy to be dealt with. I was easily caught up in this world and enjoyed every moment of my time there. I already have Shift Out of Luck downloaded (from NetGalley) so, I decided to go back to the first book, and I’m very glad I did. If you love a really good, engaging Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then I believe you’d feel right at home in this world.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.

Leia has finally found a place where she finally feels valued and content. It has been such a long time since either of things were true, and she intends on keeping them that way. Unfortunately, a person from her past refuses to allow her to stay happy for long. Upending her life is the last thing she wants, but when her internal stalking alarms go off, she puts plans into motion to run far away. Castor has appreciated the good work and professionalism of his latest executive assistant. She is the best one he has had in a very long time, and he intends to keep her around for as long as he can. In fact, when he notices her behavior change, he tries to figure out what is going on as subtly as he can. When he finds something he wasn't meant to read, he realizes that his personal feelings have been involved for a lot longer then he cares to admit. Will he fight to keep Leia in his life, or will he let her slip through his fingers for her safety?
This is such a fun story, and the characters you meet along the way are wonderfully developed and kept me enthralled the entire time. What a fabulous story line that kept me on my toes and let my imagination run wild! Leia and Castor stole my heart, and I was cheering for them the entire time. Love can't be rushed, and it also can't be contained in your heart without it bursting out and reaching the other person when they least expect it. Be open, be honest, and be bold with your love, your encouragement, and your hope.
Abigail Owen owned my heart after this story took it captive. Nothing could have stopped this raging hurricane that refused to stop and refused to be held at bay by caution. I savored every second of this marvelous adventure, and I look forward to more books in this fantastic series! What a beautiful and refreshing rush!

Leia is a nymph who lost her spring and – by extension – her family centuries ago after angering a powerful entity. She’s never been fully happy since, but she’s come back to life working as Castor Dioskouri’s Executive Assistant. Though he’s the son of Zeus, his demigod status doesn’t prevent Castor from also knowing loss. He’s been living half a life since his wife died so long ago. He requested Brimstone, Inc. send him an assistant who wouldn’t fall for his charms, which is why they sent Leia, whose powers as a nymph provide her with a natural resistance to gods. What that natural resistance doesn’t cover is the attraction between the two that springs naturally. It’s clear from the start that Castor and Leia are made for each other. But both are afraid to open their hearts and take a risk; Leia especially since she fears an old enemy may be coming for her again. But when the two attend an alpha wolf shifter mating, the additional pheromones may be enough to get them to lose their inhibitions and take a chance on a happily ever after that would last for eternity.
There’s a crackling energy between Castor and Leia that makes it easy to fall into their romance. Author Abigail Owen knows how to pack a punch in a short space and sets the foundation for the romance quickly allowing readers to be swept up in a love story that’s both sexy and heartwarming. Leia and Castor are both powerful and protective in their own ways and I absolutely adored these two. Ms. Owen weaves mythology wonderfully into this modern day boss/secretary romance and the appearance of gods, nymphs, and shifters give familiar tropes a fresh new feel. All in all, The Demigod Complex is a fast-paced, sensual, action-packed read and I cannot wait to see what’s next in the Brimstone Inc. series!

Lyleia Naiad is executive assistant to a billionaire demigod. Her friend Delilah, who is Brimstone, Inc., gave her the job on one condition that she would not fall in love with Castor Dioskouri. It doesn't matter that he's the son of Zeus and has massive powers. Leia is an ex-nymph, she has powers that are unique, the power to resist lust and her boss's panty-melting charms.
Castor insists that she fly with him to Colorado to attend an alpha wolf-shifter mating ceremony, an event that causes inhibitions from the pheromones.
Leia encounters a werewolf, her nemesis that wants her dead. Castor can't help but want to save her and being a God he has powers that trump the Werewolf's. Leia doesn't think she good enough for Castor but he has stolen her heart. How much longer can she hold out before she has to run again?
