About Brooke Vitale
Brooke Vitale began her career as a children's book editor twenty years ago with one goal: create books that children would enjoy reading and that would have a lasting impact on their lives. But it wasn't until she started teaching her own son to read that she realized just how important it was to have the right books. And she realized that the right books weren’t available. That realization led Brooke to learn more about how children actually learn to read. She teamed up with Orton-Gillingham trained literacy specialist Marisa Ware to design a line of beginning readers that children could ACTUALLY read. The result was the Charge into Reading Decodable Book series, now being adopted by school districts around the country.
In addition to the Charge into Reading line, Brooke is also the author of more than 100 traditionally published books including The Magic Is in You, The Mandalorian: A Clan of Two, and Goonies: An Illustrated Classic. All told, Brooke’s books have sold over 500,000 copies and climbing.
When Brooke is not writing books for children, she works as a children's book editor. Over the course of her 15+ years at top New York publishers including Disney and Penguin Young Readers, Brooke Vitale edited thousands of books, including best-selling titles Hide-and-Hug Olaf and Olaf’s Night Before Christmas.
Today, Brooke is a freelance children’s book editor and runs brookevitale.com, a website dedicated to helping aspiring authors navigate the publishing and self-publishing industry. Since beginning her freelance career, Brooke has helped more than 1,000 authors achieve their dream of publishing a book.
