4.0 out of 5 stars4/5 - Well-narrated "list" of a several dozen deals. Lacks "juicy" details.

Super well-written book with great insights into the deal-making process of some
of the largest PE Shops.

One critique is that the book is super "factual" and kind of jumps around from Blackstone's deals to competitors, spitting out deal after deal. As such, it kind of feels dry after 300 pages.

I would have appreciated more insights into the life, thought process and struggles (mental, psychological, etc.) of some of these PE bosses. It instead felt like a well-narrated list of a several dozen deals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed outlook of Blackstone‘s road to success

If you want to learn about Private Equity and its history through the life and experiences of one of its pioneers this is definitely a great book to read. I read it every day on my commute to work and it made it much more enjoyable. I like that they go deep into what worked and didn’t work about real deals that Blackstone has done or has pitched for. I would recommend it to any finance major or finance enthousiast.

Interesting book to read about Blackstone and Steve Schwarzman. The beginning is more interesting than the end of the book, as it describes the buildup to his empire.
