Daughter thoroughly enjoyed this book. We love Michael Rex's books as a general rule and this one did not disappoint. It is ridiculously outrageous in a way only a young child can truly appreciate. My daughter is 5 and a beginner reader. We sometimes go through this book for her to read to me. I have to prompt her on some words but as it is quite repetitive, it is a great book, and great fun for a beginning reader.
My 4.5 year old son LOVES this book. It's every gross little boy's dream; the nastiness is presented in a manner that is hilarious to me as well. Underneath the toilet paper, rotting mayo, and old gym socks, Rex has cleverly buried some character education that sticks with kids. After busting a gut laughing, we had a good talk about why Ricky is a good friend and how the world isn't always black and white. So glad this is a series; buying the companions will give me respite from reading this book over and over. :)
This is the first book in the series where we are introduced to Ricky and his friends. They are high energy boys who are always in the middle of something dirty and gross and have an interesting story to tell about how they got there. My 8 year old really enjoyed it.
