Having very much enjoyed reading the Berenstain Bears books to my kids, I was looking for some new ones, and found this and several others I hadn't read before. I guess what happened is partially my fault; I didn't read carefully enough. What I got, instead of the usual warm and (for the reading level) nuanced story, was some bland religious instruction. The story was one of the poorest, least interesting, most preachy Berenstain stories I've seen, mostly because it was a shallow excuse for quoting and paraphrasing come cherry-picked bible pap. Be warned: the "living lights" series makes use of these lovable bears as shills for bland religious indoctrination. Bleah. Interesting that, while you can read a few sample pages of most of the Berenstain books, the same courtesy is not extended for the "living lights" series; this smacks of dishonesty. I guess it's back to Franklin and Arthur for my family.
