3.0 out of 5 starsA fun, but will get repetitive really quickly

This is a fun read and if I were in a situation where I was reading this book to multiple groups of children I'd probably give it more than three stars. However as a book that sits on a personal bookshelf for my 3 kids not super great. Sure, the book is a lot of fun the first time around. For the second time we were at the book it was not so fun when the kids already knew what the answers were going to be.
The premise of the book is a game show where you have to guess whether something will crash, Splash, or moo. Hence the title of the book.
Illustrations are great. The book is fine. But again, it's probably not for multiple reads in the same house.

Well, I wanted to love this children's book. In fact, I do love the concept. The book has the child/reader follow an event and decide if the next sequence is "Crash, Splash, or Moo". Great concept. Great illustrations - happy and bright and well done. The negative? There is no resolution offered to the child picking out the "wrong" answer! There are two pages where even my answer didn't match up with the author's answer -- so now what? Apparently, we just ignore it and move along. It just wasn't a comfortable book to read to my three year old grandchild because we weren't sure what to do if she said "Crash!" when the author went with "Splash" etc. Brilliant concept - just not executed as well as it could be.
3.0 out of 5 starsI'd say it's best as a library check-out....

This is the type of book I consider best as a library check-out, as opposed to one to keep on our home shelf. After one read, it's no longer guessing or trying to figure out the answer, although we thought the answers were pretty obvious. Knowing the answers makes this book less appealing after the first reading, so I just don't think it holds re-read potential, at least for the same audience. (There are always exceptions, and I'm sure this will turn into someone's favorite book to be read over and over.) My children liked it fine, though, and had fun with it. The illustrations are bright. It begs to be read in a loud and exciting way. I wouldn't recommend it for bedtime reading, if calming is what you're after.

In the book, clam and a cow are supposed to do silly things and kids are supposed to guess what will happen. My son was very excited when we started reading, but it didn't look like he enjoyed it much. It is silly but it reads like one of the stupid tv game shows where they do stupid things and the host talks in super excited voice, but it actually fizzles out to nothing. At least they did not stuck flashy advertisements after every page.
