Yet another book i've been taken in with by the unwarranted hype. I didn't like the way the book was written and laid out. Too much jumping back and forth from what the characters were saying, the narrative and the back stories. This book just wasn't hooking my interest. I managed to read 20% then gave up as it was boring.

I think I’m a pretty smart gal. Well educated. Read 60-70 books a year. And this one I truly didn’t understand. Changing years, locations and narrators every few paragraphs. No connection with the characters at all. No real point. No beginning or end. Brutal.

I was looking forward to reading this book by this acclaimed author. Very disappointing. The author never introduced me to a character I wanted to care about. It jumped all over the place, in a disjointed way. It felt like the author was trying very hard to show how creative and poetic she is. It did not stretch me, teach me, nor move me.

I really wanted to like this book. I really did. It honestly was not a good read to me and I’m so surprised that it made the New York Times best seller list. It jumped around ALOT to the point where it was really upsetting. She didn’t go into detail about sooooo many things. Getting through this book was rough.
