5.0 out of 5 starsThe book confirmed that the money attitude of individual can influence financial institutes.
Reviewed in Canada on April 6, 2019
This is a very advanced and honest book. It clearly showed that living beyond own means can be detrimental to people finances. It gave a historical review of depression during and after wars and demonstrated that the collective behaviour of citizens influence financial institutions and result in failure. The graphs aren't in colour and it is hard to read when multiple comparisons are made on one graph. The professional language can be hard to understand at times but the contents are truly great. It proved that arrogance and greed can ruin personal and nations finances.

Sikander Khawaja
1.0 out of 5 starsThe worst narration I have ever heard.
Reviewed in Canada on July 22, 2021
I disliked the audible book because the narrator was monotone. There was no life in the narration. On top of it the book is itself too lengthy and the reader loses the plot as too much information is thrown at him/her. It was a waste of my time and money.

Dalio shows again mastery over his chosen subject. While a deep dive into debt crises is hardly page turning, Dalio makes this insightful read easy to follow and understand while covering massive amounts of information on a complex topic.

This book simply represents the term "looking at forest rather than trees". Mr. Dalio has done a very generous work for all his readers.

I would say this book and the Ascent of Money are the 2 must reads for anyone interested in reality and not just the noise of the NOW>

5.0 out of 5 stars Great analysis, but it's scary how similar the depression is to today!
Reviewed in Canada on June 5, 2019
As a student of history I found this economic history to be quite fascinating. What I didn't expect however was to read actual headlines from the past (specifically the Great Depression era) and think that they could apply to today. Incredibly valuable insight and I would recommend this book to anyone, just be warned that the material is dry and can be a tough slog at times.
