5.0 out of 5 starsIf you have any question on the impact of change, this will bring clarity
Reviewed in Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ on July 30, 2013
This book will spur you to really look at your life, both personally and professionally. It is clear and concise, and brings home how each of us can direct the path of our own life and the effect that has on others. I read this book for the first time almost ten years ago, and now re-reading it, it reminds me of is still available for me to do to take life to the next level. I highly recommend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Treatment of a Valuable Concept
Reviewed in Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ on August 1, 2003
While this book has been around for a while, it is a good treament of a valuable concept. How we interact with our colleagues depends in many respects on how we and they see the world. Deep Change gives a simple, yet effective framework for that understanding and builds from there. The Federal Emergency Management Agency uses this book in one of their leadership courses, and I imagine numerous private organizations also use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging - but in a good way

I doubt many will come across this book simply perusing Amazon for books on change. I suggest this book will be found by individuals on their own personal change journey, lead to it by some obscure thread, in their search for a philosophy that provides an alternative from mainstream change literature. The book really delivers in this respect; it does so by asking difficult and personal questions. And it needs reading several times, not least, as the first time can be quite painful.

The concept of slow death at work, frustrations and desire for flight identified in the book has been covered before but not with such intelligence or the delicate encouragement that asks what it is you need to do for deep change to occur, before looking externally to blame, criticise or the eternal wait for leadership from others. On an organisational level, the book articulates many common frustrations such as resistance, yet defuses them with an authoritative wisdom. The book finishes with empowerment delivering the final challenge of increasing your own sense of self-determination to deliver deep change in oneself and those around you.

An excellent book on change, but one that is perhaps more for personal consumption.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book

The book arrived quickly and on the date promised. I bought a book rated as *used* with markings. However the book is in better conditions than what I envisioned a four dollar book would be. The markings were only on a few pages at the end of the book. I am quite pleased with the book.

As to the contents of the book, the book is easy reading and provides excellent examples of company successes and failures. This book also teaches the different characteristics of a good leader and what deep changes must be wrought in order to succeed.

Read this book during doctoral work 18 years ago and wanted to re-read it as I sense another call into an inward journey that I might lead well in a changing world.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a school book...

I must admit that I had my doubts about this book, since it was a necessary evil for a class I was taking. But I found it to be easy to read and rather insightful. I'm not sure it's for everyone, but it's certainly not as dry as some of the change management books I have had to read!
