5.0 out of 5 starsUnlock the psychology behind your personal finances
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on April 5, 2023
"The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness" is a thought-provoking book that provides valuable insights into the psychology behind personal finance. The author, Morgan Housel, presents a refreshing perspective on money and how it intersects with our lives, both practically and emotionally.

What stood out most to me was the engaging writing style, which made complex concepts easy to understand. Housel uses real-world examples to illustrate his points, making the book relatable and relevant. Additionally, the author's focus on the behavioral aspect of personal finance, rather than just the technical aspect, is insightful and refreshing.

However, if you are like me you may have expected some sort of actionable advice on managing money, this was not the case. While it provides a valuable understanding of the psychology behind money, it does not offer specific tips or strategies for managing one's finances.

I read this book on the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, and it was a very enjoyable and seamless read on the device, showing that it was well adapted to the e-reader.

Overall, "The Psychology of Money" would be best suited for readers who are interested in understanding the intersection between money and psychology. It would be particularly useful for those who may struggle with managing their finances or those who are seeking a new perspective on personal finance. The book is a great read for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological drivers behind our financial decisions. This is a staple in a collection for building a better financial mindset.

The book is really cool and so attractive.
But man, do you hate women? You didn’t mention mothers, girls or any woman working in finance.
I tried not to be sensitive but it was so bold in some chapters :)

It is an ideal read in this time of inflation, recession and fear! A smart financial literacy book for everyone. Love this book, simplified and very well written for a non-fiction with great binding, rich quality pages. It’s not a thick book and worth reading! Highly recommended!

The book is an easy read and explains why we have such differing thoughts about money. It gives a good explanation into why decision making on money is not always straight forward and why it is different with each of us.

Great read and puts a lot of things in perspective. If you're worried about money and can't stop thinking about it give this book a read. I listened for Morgan Housel before reading the book and the message is great for anyone.

I liked reading this book and there are interesting topics covered in the book. The ones I liked most were:
- Our decision to invest depend on our personal history. People born in 1950 acted differently from people born in 1970
- Luck and Risk are siblings
- You can be wrong half the time and still make a fortune
- No one is impressed with your possessions. Be nice and less flashy
- Wealth is what you don't see
- Beware talking financial cues from people playing a different game

4.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Lessons on Money!

I'm impressed at how strong of a writer Morgan is. The read is smooth, easy, and straightforward.

The takeaways from the book are pretty straightforward, but very valuable nonetheless.

I think the best phrase Morgan shared was his thoughts on how money provides independence. Money offers the ability to be with you who want, when you want, and where you want. That concept stuck with me.

I give the book a 4 out of 5. But it's more like a 4.5/5.

Writing structure and style. 5/5.
Content. 4/5.
