5.0 out of 5 starsAmazing book!

You know when you find these magical books that you would like to keep only for yourself? That's one of them. Very pratical, good examples (I saw myself several times on these difficult situations). tackled this book very quickly, so easy to read. Also appreciated having a list of recommended 'Top Shelf' Books at the end. Great book, get it now!

3.0 out of 5 starsAverage book.
Reviewed in Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ on March 29, 2021
Very average book. Did not provide deep insights or provide for a really tantalizing read. I feel the core principles of the book are sound and reasonably well articulated (staying curious, not jumping to giving advice too soon, asking questions which provoke thought and help the student/employee learn and grow, asking the employee to explain what their challenges are or what they have learned).

I would suggest more examples of real world situations be given.

It is a short book and I felt like the author/editors was trying to fill pages to make this a β€œreal” book length. It could have frankly been covered in 50 pages or less (not 200).

Now with all these critiques, I should keep in context that the book was relatively inexpensive (17$) so I would still say it is worth it.

I do find it strange that this book has so many 5 star reviews and is a bestseller since it did not give me any β€œwow” factor.

Great book, took some time after reading it for it to sink in. My initial reaction to the material was 50/50 and I doubted the utility but after some time, practice and a second read I started to see the value gained from it.

Arrived on time and in great condition. Good and quick read that challenged the way I think and view problems at work. I have put some of the information into work and it is already paying off. I highly recommend this book if you are looking at being more effective at work and even in relationships. I will definitely be looking at other books written by this author. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars What was the real value for me here ?

This book provides some valuable questions to build meaningful connections. I liked the build you new habit section which helped me think about my triggers and my drama triangle.

It helped me become aware about my coaching habit and tweak it to make it more valuable.

4.0 out of 5 stars An impactful read with a lot of wasted pages

Highly impactful for my coaching direction and journey as a lead of leads. However this book is full of countless "filler" pages to make it appear meatier than it is. A large amount of pages included single lines in huge font. Sure. they're good sentences and impactful one liners but it's obvious what you're up to. That said, it does give you a great false sense of achievement having "read" so many pages in one sitting.

End of the day - get yourself an E-copy and save some trees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun And Useful

One of the self help and instructional books that are informative, fun and easy to follow. Links to videos in the end of each chapter are such a treat! Reader can see the principles discussed in real life. Works for visual learners. Learning to ask questions instead of giving advice is a challenge for many leaders and coaches, me included. Doing the habit change exercises in the end of each chapter will make it inevitable to change into more curious and less advice giving coach/leader/manager.
Thank you for this book!

It’s helpful not profound but provides a guide to how to listen more and ask the right questions worth the read if you want to improve your communication as a leader
