Beautiful artwork, interesting rhyming meter

It took me a while to get a hang of the meter in the words of the book and how the first parts are the boy talking, then the season talks in response. My husband did not catch on to this at all and therefore thought the book was horrible LOL. But I love it and my kids love it when I read it

Great book for shared reading but don’t buy the Kindle version

I purchased the hardcover of this book and enjoy it as I did his previous work. For shared reading purposes with my primary students, I thought I’d purchase the Kindle version to project on the big SmartBoard screen so they could see the words better. Well, the words are all but invisible. The formatting of the Kindle version in general is strange, very dark on the screen with teeny, tiny text. I returned the Kindle book because ut’s obviously not going to suit my intended purpose for it. I will keep the hard copy and still use it for shared reading, somehow. I thought the kids could alternate reading the parts in the boy’s “conversation” with nature.

We love Kenard Pan’s seasonal books he began working on with Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn. The colors are vivid and his illustrations are stunning. The simple descriptions of winter and early spring are perfect for preschoolers on up. As an adult I love picture books, but I will only buy and read quality literature to my children. This series fits my standards. We can’t wait to purchase the last installment, Goodbye Spring, Hello Summer, when it’s published in the future.
