To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
We just finished using Van Pelt's study guide for The Book of Judges and, while the structured approach is useful, I found this particular guide so focused on a conservative Christian interpretation of OT scripture that we had to constantly add to his material more balance information from other Christian, Jewish and scholarly sources. In particular, he seems to completely reject the idea of Judges being a collection of tribal stories compiled by an editor(s) as part of a Deuteronomistic history, which is widely accepted by biblical scholars and included in both Christian and Jewish study bibles.
