5.0 out of 5 starsLove the Blog, love the Book more!
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on November 24, 2014
I follow the blog, and didn't want to keep printing out directions. Everything is laid out cleanly and the instructions are easy to follow. At first you think, when will I have time for this? It's too much. Some of them are a bit more work, but some are VERY easy, you just have to look for them. I think if you don't start with the fast easy ones, it's easy to become overwhelmed. I pick one thing that will last for the week, prep Sunday night and we use it for a week. On her blog she also has a list of the basic stuff you need, next trip to the dollar store or bulk barn, stock up and you are good to go. I highly recommend starting with the colored rice, my 18month old loves it, and it didn't take me long at all.

Our favorites so far are..
COLORED RICE - She now plays with for over 20 minutes while I enjoy my coffee in the morning... 20 minutes in Toddler time is like a year! It took a couple times to teach her to keep it in the bin, but it's nothing our vacuum doesn't fix in a few minutes. She uses kitchen stuff in the bin with it, measuring cups, funnel, spoons, etc. I didn't buy anything, I had it all on hand.
Love the blog, love the book even more.
CLASSIC PLAY DOUGH - she loves sticking noodles, Popsicle sticks or other things into it. I love it doesn't smell super gross like the store bought stuff.
FOAM CUT OUTS ON THE WINDOWS - Can't actually remember what it is called int he book. But it requires foam sheets and water, so easy and works like stickers without the mess. We also use them in the bath.

If you aren't sure, check out the blog and try a couple of things first www.funathomewithkids.com

I plan on buying these as christmas gifts for a few people, highly recommend!

If anyone finds Water Colors for a good price let me know, they are four times the price here in canada compared to the US, it's very aggravating.

Was hoping there would be more ideas in this book but they all require you making something an the whole activity lasts about 5 minutes.
Not bad but not what I was expecting.

I absolutely am in love with this book! The fact that the author has done and utilized everything personally is fantastic! There is not a single activity in this book that I will not try with my son! Also as a mother with a budget and a son with an anaphylactic nut allergy I extremely appreciate seeing the activities stating that they are nut free also includes whether the activities are dye free, egg free, dairy free etc. The layout and descriptions make it super easy to follow and many suggestions are made for “in case of” or more budget friendly. I will buy every book this author writes I love it so much! I very much look forward to purchasing the next one and I know my son does too. I would also like to add how amazed I was with the order. I purchased the book and I received it the very next day. Excellent!

I ordered this book last week and Amazon said it might take 3 months to ship, but they ended up having some in stock after all and it arrived 3 days after I ordered it! We have had the book for 3 days and my daughter and I have already done 4 activities. She picks out what she wants to do and I go out and buy the materials and we prep everything together. Materials were inexpensive when purchased from the dollar store and bulk barn. The set-up is easy and kid-friendly, so they can help create the activity and then play with it too! My daughter is 3 and she has so far thoroughly enjoyed the dinosaur rescue with baking soda and vinegar, the frog world, the foam and water window stickers, and the ice treasure hunt (can't remember what that one was called - we put beads in the water, then collected them when we melted the coloured water and made bracelets). This will definitely help us get through the long winters in Canada! Have also done painting and water play with my 6 month old. Well worth the investment! Have also purchased for some Mama friends as Christmas gifts!

5.0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old and 9 month old have both loved everything we have tried so far

This book was exactly what I needed. My 2 year old and 9 month old have both loved everything we have tried so far. I love the pictures, it is nice to show my toddler pictures of what we are about to make, and to let him help pick out things to try too. Each activity has the age groups listed, along with any adaptations that should be made for babies or toddlers. I find that very useful, so my baby can play too.
Before I got this book, when I wanted to try an activity, I found I would spend too much time on my phone searching for something to try, then reading the comments which would often discourage me from trying it. Since this book arrived 2 weeks ago, I have found it so much easier to pick and activity and get started, and almost every day since we have tried something new

This book is filled with ideas for children that they really find FUN! Sometimes a little messy but...that's also fun! I use this book alot in a preschool setting. Great sensory suggestions and i love the small worlds but I was not as pleased with the homemade toys....I would say that 90% of the activities in this book work out and are engaging for children from toddlers to early school age.

I really like this book. I got this book to have some ideas to do some free play with different material. And she helps with getting that material and getting started. But I do warn you it can get messy. They have so much fun though.
