I follow the blog, and didn't want to keep printing out directions. Everything is laid out cleanly and the instructions are easy to follow. At first you think, when will I have time for this? It's too much. Some of them are a bit more work, but some are VERY easy, you just have to look for them. I think if you don't start with the fast easy ones, it's easy to become overwhelmed. I pick one thing that will last for the week, prep Sunday night and we use it for a week. On her blog she also has a list of the basic stuff you need, next trip to the dollar store or bulk barn, stock up and you are good to go. I highly recommend starting with the colored rice, my 18month old loves it, and it didn't take me long at all.
Our favorites so far are..
COLORED RICE - She now plays with for over 20 minutes while I enjoy my coffee in the morning... 20 minutes in Toddler time is like a year! It took a couple times to teach her to keep it in the bin, but it's nothing our vacuum doesn't fix in a few minutes. She uses kitchen stuff in the bin with it, measuring cups, funnel, spoons, etc. I didn't buy anything, I had it all on hand.
Love the blog, love the book even more.
CLASSIC PLAY DOUGH - she loves sticking noodles, Popsicle sticks or other things into it. I love it doesn't smell super gross like the store bought stuff.
FOAM CUT OUTS ON THE WINDOWS - Can't actually remember what it is called int he book. But it requires foam sheets and water, so easy and works like stickers without the mess. We also use them in the bath.
If you aren't sure, check out the blog and try a couple of things first www.funathomewithkids.com
I plan on buying these as christmas gifts for a few people, highly recommend!
If anyone finds Water Colors for a good price let me know, they are four times the price here in canada compared to the US, it's very aggravating.
