3.0 out of 5 stars Another Kennedy Memoir

I've just finished 3 Jackie/JFK Jr./Carolyn memoirs and I'm pretty maxed out on the genre because they are all the same. The theme: people who felt like they were nothing before they lucked into rubbing elbows with fame, became "everything" while devoting their lives to a Kennedy, and again felt like nothing upon the Kennedy deaths. I guess it's not fair to lump them all into this review, but I actually liked Berman's the best because it also gave quite a bit of insight into the workings of George (at least the covers) and that was interesting. And Berman seemed to recover on his own accord better than some of the others. It's almost unbelievable how many Kennedy sycophant memoirs exist. It's as if every servant, work colleague and acquaintance has cashed in. So far I haven't seen anything written by anyone who wasn't a jilted lover or a paid employee.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, too much unrelated info

The author goes into a little too much length about the magazine covers and the photo shoots. Most of this did not relate to John, and as I read in another book, John was only heavily involved in the first few covers. There are some good stories but I had to skim through a good part of it, and also why are authors so interested in telling us about their own personal life when they're writing about someone else? Matt goes into detail about his life growing up, his insecurities, etc., taking up way too much space and boring the reader with information not at all related to his subject.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick read

I am a admitted Kennedy fan, which comes from my history teacher roots. Every new book that comes out about the family finds its way to my shelf. JFK Jr, George, & Me: A Memoir was an okay addition to my collection. It was a quick read, honest in its insight to the founding of George Magazine. I can't help but think that many of John Jr's closest friends and co-workers have benefited from his death by making him the protagonist in their tales- Matt Berman being no exception. The only difference between this book and others about John Jr. is that Matt shows some humility in his exploit.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK - but not what was expected

I bought this book as a gift for a friend. She told me the book was just OK....not enough about JFK Jr. and too much about the author. She was not really interested in the author. She wanted to know more about JFK. I didn't read it - so I can't judge myself.

3.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading the anecdotes about JFK

I enjoyed reading the anecdotes about JFK, Jr, but found the people in his life trite and uninspiring. The book was well written and a fun read, just filled with shallow people who care more about superficial things than real life stories.

Interesting enough when you gravitate toward Kennedy stories. All about the days in the "George" offices and does offer interesting personal stories about John and Carolyn. Quick read, finished in a day.

A little disappointing - thought it was going to be more about JFK Jr. But still a must read!

Great read, but I expected more about JFK, Jr. The story is about the author, with JFK stories peppered throughout.
