I like that this book celebrates becoming a big kid by saying bye to the soother (rather than some other books that don’t have such a positive empowering message about giving it up.) My toddler loves it and it really helped prepare him for giving it up! We changed the word binky to soother when we read it for him.
Its a cute book... but my 2.5 still has not grasped the concept of letting go of the pacifier. She has taken an interest in reading it and although it stresses that BIG Girls don't need pacifiers - she still won't let it go. I even ask her (as in the book) .Are you a big girl?...She of course says Yes...so then i say Big girls don't need pacifiers (re-iterating the book)...She says No, gets angry and walks away with pacifier. This is going to be tough. Anyways, cute book, but not working on my strong-willed, pacifier-loving little toddler :(
I had purchased this book hoping it would help my 20 month old son get rid of his binky especially with a new brother coming. I had 2 months before his brother arrived so I was nervous that I was a little too late but I am super happy to say that I got this book in like January and we read it to him at night for like a week and half straight because he kept choosing it and one night he finally said bye bye binky and threw it in the ground. We never pressured him to say bye bye to the binky or asked him we just read the book to him and let his mind figure it out. We are so glad because a month after his last binky night his brother came and he has no interest in the binky just knows that it’s for the baby. This book is not going to work for every kid but we are sure glad it worked for us. He asked for it like twice after that night and we said your a big boy right and he said yup! Great purchase and I would recommend!
This book has been a godsend - I ordered it on a whim when I decided that my 22 month old was driving me nuts with her pacifier obsession. The story is super simple but we've read it 20 times in 2 days and she's been paci-free. The concept of giving her pacifiers to crying babies really did the trick. Definitely recommend to anyone who is in the same situation!
Cute and clear little story to help our son understand that kids grow out of pacifiers and he will be ok without it. The illustrations are great, but the modern two-tone color palate isn't very engaging for little ones. I also recommend Pacita the Pacifier Fairy. This is a good compliment to additional books if you're also trying to convince your toddler that they can live without the pacifier!
So helpful for my daughter who is quitting her passy. Shows the child being empowered to grow up and move on, doesn’t have any images of her being sad which is exactly what I was looking for. The print colors are a bit hard on the eyes though, it’s very bright orange and then just brown. Would be better printed in different colors. Doesn’t bother my daughter but is honestly hard in my adult eyes.
Such a cute little book. My two year old daughter loves it! We’ve been struggling with breaking her from her Paci. She wanted me to read this book every night while she had her paci in her mouth. I thought maybe it wouldn’t help. But after about 2 weeks of reading it, one night she decided she did not need her paci anymore because she was a big kid. This book really does help!
