Homeschool mom here. This is a teacher textbook. It’s not as bad as the ones you might get in a college class more like the kinds you get in a (probably wonderful) course you take to keep up your certification. It seemed too cumbersome for me in my new life as a homeschool mom. Charlotte Mason talks about the importance of living books instead of textbooks. Even though the book says it’s inline with Charlotte Mason’s teachings I found in my initial sit down with it just overwhelmed me and left me wishing for more delight in nature instead of feeling like a sterile class. Full disclosure I didn’t read the whole book. Maybe it gets better. Now I’m on the fence about returning it and trying the version not for teachers.

Update: I did end up getting The Laws Guide to Nature Drawing and Journaling. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is more of the “how to” with helps on how to observe and draw.
