To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

3.0 out of 5 starsCoffee table book
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on August 7, 2022
I like the simplicity and clear nature of the writing. It does a good job of approaching the audience and dispelling thoughts and behaviours which undermine learning and memory performance. This said, its taken half the book in which to trod through, and thus far, from an academic standpoint, has taught me nothing I haven't already learned. If you are a novice, I would recommend this book. If you're looking for a plethora of nuanced techniques...perhaps there are better sources.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very frustrating (and not in a good way)

I usually don't rate books (and I should more for books I like), and I don't want to be negative, but I had to rate it just because of how frustrating I found the book (especially considering the price).

I'm not overexaggerating when I say it feels like literally over half the book is filler. He keeps quoting the same people, leaves a bunch of spaces and extra pages to stretch the count, and once even rewrote the same paragraph.

This is 20 pages of content stretched to 160, and I put 160 pages in many quotes. He keeps repeating the same things in different ways, keeps making general statements and again so very clearly tries to stretch the book. There is zero depth to it.

I only write this to warn others of the same possible frustrations. I really think the author could have put a lot more thought and added more layers to this.

This book is filled with a bunch of really old systems that you can find for free online. Certainly not a quick fix, if you can memorize all the methods in this book, you already have a great memory and don’t need this book! If you like being called lazy for not wanting to remember a deck of playing cards, have at it.

This book didn't work for me. It would use things like the parts of a car to help relate to remembering things. For some people, this might work (especially if you are a car buff which I'm not) but overall not for me.

I found this book to be fairly weak. Lots of schlocky type explanations of recycled ideas. Can’t say I would recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars okay, but not too impressed

This book has over a thousand 5-star reviews, it is either the readers' standards have dropped drastically, or most of the reviews are not genuine...
It is rather depressing having to go through the first 4 chapters not learning anything.
Part one of the book basically goes on and on telling you to at least try his method, and to have an open mind.
Part two of the book is the real meat, or so I thought, giving you several memory improvement techniques, but not all are useful.
Part three of the book basically tells you to be discipline and keep on practicing the techniques, and never give up.
Mind you that the entire book only has 3 parts...Overall, I feel the author prolonged the book unnecessarily, the whole book should have been completed with only half the length.
I was contemplating to give a 1-star, but then again, the entire book is not all that useless after all. If you are getting the kindle version, you are essentially paying 10 bucks for an overrated book.
Not recommended.

Read full summary of this book on my blog: imeducatingmyself.com/unlimited-memory-how-to-use-advanced-learning-strategies-to-learn-faster-remember-more-and-be-more-productive-by-kevin-horsley-book-review

I bought this book because I was thinking it would help me remember more things that I read in books. I don’t have a problem with memory, I remember most of the things that I’ve read – but improving it even more it would be nice.

Sadly, this book doesn’t offer that solution that I can apply. I can use visualization method that i presented in this book, and that’s it. But, I was already familiar with that method, it’s nothing new to me.

I’m not sure to whom I would suggest this book, if you don’t like to read at all, probably you won’t went through this book. If you are advanced reader, you might not find it helpful. I would suggest to someone who is occasional reader and want to improve their memory skills.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dude. Too much repetition

Oh my god. The actual practical stuff that you could actually use for memory is amazing. I memorized an entire newspaper in 15 min. Not details, but basic subject on every page and where they’re located on that page. But. BUT. DUDE. stop with the endless quotes and lectures on my laziness. Just give me the Exercises. And assume I’m going to try them. I almost stopped reading halfway through because I was sick of you telling me to drop my bad habits and excuses. I understand you have to fill up a book. But next time actually put in 5 exercises that we could try with every system. In another book I memorized all the President’s. It was awesome. And I can’t wait to try remembering a deck of cards. But please stop the other nonsense

2.0 out of 5 stars A whole lot of nothing

At 22% of the way through the book you will find that the author is still saying things like "In this book you will learn" or "In this book you will find". There was an entire chapter filled with possible excuses for why you won't read this book. The reason I won't finish this book is not because I don't think I can do it or because I'm lazy, I won't read this book because there is nothing of substance. Don't read the book it's a waste of time.
